Every technician knows it’s important to build their add on business! Knowing and achieving are two different things! I won’t spend too much time talking about why this needs to happen. You already know this.
I am going give strategies to help you accomplish this.
Improve Consultations: Are you taking the time to ask them what they love about their look and how they would like to improve? Are you doing this every single service with them? Are you sharing your commitment to support them by recommending additional treatments that will give them the result they say they want? Be present to this and work on the type of questions you are asking. Craft how you will weave relevant add on recommendations into the picture.
Destroy “Time” Perceptions: Are you booked solid? If so, good for you! Are you letting that get in the way of making a recommendation you know they need because you don’t have the time in your schedule that day? Always make the recommendation, even if you don’t have the time that day you can offer them another date and time. Never, ever, let your busyness get in the way!
Strategic Promotions: Build marketing strategies that have you promote specialty services. These add on treatments need some attention. If you position them in your clients mind more consistently you increase the amount of clients interested in taking advantage of your offerings.
Add On Menu : Meet with the team and create an Add On menu. Come up with fun themes and names for the services. You can base it on colors of the rainbow, ice cream flavors or famous stars like “Marilyn Blonde” or “Lucy Red”. Display the menu in a cute frame and print them as an additional menu for clients to look at when they arrive! This can have a significant impact to cash flow.
Combine with VIP – Points Program: If you have a VIP program then offer additional points or rewards to VIP clients as an incentive to try add on treatments throughout the year.
Targeted Social Media Campaigns: Spread the word! Record short video that you can post on your social pages to teach different trends and techniques that lead to add on sales. The more you educate the better the chance you have of growing sales.
