Whether you have to implement a price increase, raise the rent, hold someone accountable for not following a system or help employees navigate interpersonal challenges, one thing is for certain, if you own the business then you, yes, YOU, must dictate the direction your business takes!
Quite often I counsel owners who are up at night, losing sleep and worrying about how people on the team will react or respond to the conversation. While it is important to take into consideration how someone may respond, it shouldn’t be to the level of you losing sleep over them.
Take your power back!
This is YOUR business. You’re the one paying all the bills, you’re the one that stuck your neck out there to take the risks. Own this and OWN your power!
You can only control where you intend to take your business into its future. Some people will resonate with that and others won’t. Stay committed to what you value and what you stand for. Some people will respect this and rise to the occasion while others won’t.
The last thing you want to do is step over something that must happen and, in the process, give your power away to someone else because of a fear of losing them and the money they bring into your company. If you helped them build, you can help someone else build too!
It’s your company, your vision, your passion, your life! Own it and lead it powerfully!
