This past weekend I had the honor of presenting two classes at the Premiere Show in Orlando. In my class, Interdependent Leadership (based on my book of the same title), I taught the attendees an equation to help them replace one day a week behind the chair or in the treatment room. Before I shared the equation I asked for a show of hands if they felt they could not afford to work one day less because they thought they would lose money. Out of 75 people there, every hand but 3 went up!
This experience illustrates an important point that I made then and am making here:
“Abundant thinking creates an opening for action while scarcity thinking closes the path to future growth!”
This is an important point that I used as a premise for my book, Financial Fitness. We can work really hard and try every way we know how to grow but tips, ideas and strategies mean nothing if the way we think and relate to things is not considered and addressed first.
Going back to my experience I had this past weekend, once I walked the room through the equation they were all blown away at its simplicity and excited to go home and figure out how they can get the day back. In that moment I challenged them to notice that the biggest impediment was they thought it wasn’t possible. Their reality until that moment was one of lack or scarcity. It was a big “A-Ha” moment for them.
The next time you find yourself in a situation where you feel up against it financially or think something is too big a challenge to overcome, stop and check in with yourself. Notice that it begins with your thinking.
Abundant thinking is about seeing what’s possible no matter the situation. It’s about remembering, owning and implementing strategies based on what you have and what you can create!
It gives you fuel to feed your creative soul!
