How To Keep Your Retail Profit!

Plan Your Day & Double Your Day!

July 30, 2020

As salons and spas are reopened now there is a new way of operating the business unlike we have ever seen. In the hustle & bustle of running the operation I am seeing that important steps are being missed, particularly recommending needed add on services and retail.

I have created a Recovery Menu and it’s here on my website on the Operation Clean Slate page. This resource will provide a visual reminder for the team to make relevant recommendations as well as be an educational resource for clients to learn why they need these treatments and products. Please grab, print it and use it every client, every time. If you have questions just email me and I will help.

While this tool will make an impact, it is not as important as doing something every technician should be doing everyday, covid or not, and that’s making a plan for the day before it begins!

I have a client that I coach and she faced a similar issue so we focused on planning and it made all the difference. I had her send me the following information at the beginning of last week:

  • list of each client including what they were scheduled for and how much that was
  • what she would recommend each client in services and retail that was relevant for them and how much additional income that would produce

At the end of the week I had her send me her results. She blew away her goals!

  • 9 of 13 clients purchased retail last week which was 69.23% and her retail average ticket was $61.46!
  • Of the 13 people who came in she had $1,285 dollars on the schedule. She ended the week with $2,369!! An increase of $1,084 dollars!
8 of the 13 clients added on services based on her recommendations. That’s 61.54%. Stellar!

I asked her if it was any harder for her and she said no. She also shared that it made her more grounded, in control, disciplined and confident! In this day and age of uncertainty this is exactly what we all should strive for!

This should remind us all that if we take a few minutes to think about what the optimum service experience needs to be for our clients they will be served and have their expectations exceeded while the business grows and it doesn’t have to be hard at all!

Get to planning and make the impact your clients and your business need! You got this!
