If you’re a hairstylist, esthetician, nail technician or massage therapist one of the many things you have in common is keeping the new clients you serve!
While the ability to build a relationship and deliver technically will make this happen, there are other little touches salons and spas can add to the service experience that can exceed new client expectations.
One of them is a new client gift bag. Being that you never get a second chance to make a great first impression, this is a strategy that can help you add that extra special something to their first experience with you. Let’s look at what you can do to put this to work in your business.
- Design. Be sure to design bags of different sizes to accommodate purchase sizes. The design should match your salon logo and color theme. Have your logo and contact information centered on the bag and add colored tissue paper to enhance the look.
- Retail. While anything they purchase will be put in the bag be sure you have sample size products for them to test. Include a nice placard (post card size) explaining each test product and its benefits. These products can be seasonal, they can be what’s popular in your business or they can be products that you have overstocked. You can probably work out a deal with your distributor or manufacturer to get them for little to no cost.
- Marketing collateral. There are givens such as business cards, pens with your logo, social media information and a menu of services. You should also include current marketing placards. If you have a newsletter or calendar of events add this.
- Little touches. Get creative by adding candies or mini chocolates. You can have them wrapped in your logo. Change them up based on seasonal themes. You can include a discount card for a local boutique or coffee shop you partner with. Sit down and brainstorm. These little additions go a long way.
- Finally, write handwritten thank you notes in advance. All that is needed is a moment to add their name to the top and put it back in the bag at the end of the service.
Your gift bags can go a long way in making that first impression a lasting one. Imagine happy clients walking out with their bags, excited to look through them and driving away with a great memory of your business.
